Transport Union Leader and His Suspected Cult Gang Members Arrested With Guns in Ogun State (Photo)

Some deadly criminals including the leader of one of the road transport unions in the state have been arrested with deadly weapons.

Policemen in Ogun state have apprehended a leader in one of the road transport unions in Ogun State, Suleman Akinyemi, for allegedly plotting to cause mayhem at a motor park in Ijebu-Igbo area. Akinyemi was arrested alongside four suspected cult members with deadly weapons.
 
Revealing details of the encounter, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, who paraded the suspects and seven others in connection with various crimes on Friday in Abeokuta said four pump action guns, one locally- made pistol, chief revolver pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from the transporter and his gang.
 
According to NewTelegraph, Akinyemi aka Anobi was said to have sometime been expelled from one of the notable transport unions in the state. Police investigation, however, revealed that he recruited suspected cultists and armed them to unleash terror and take over the leadership of a major motor park in Ijebu-Igbo. It was also learnt that the embattled transporter had fine-tuned arrangement towards achieving his aim in 2018.
 
The police commissioner disclosed that a team of operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), upon information, stormed the hideout of the suspects and arrested them.
 
Iliyasu gave the names of the other suspects as Sesan Sonubi aka Sure Boy, Segun Adeoye aka Ifa, Sunday Omolewa aka Ifa Sunday and Samiyu Oluwaseun aka Biggy. He said the suspects would soon be charged to court upon the completion of investigation.
 
Speaking with journalists, one of the suspects, Sonubi, confessed to being a cult member and that the transporter indeed approached them to cause violence in Ijebu-Igbo. Sonubi, however, claimed that he did not accept the offer, saying the police only came to arrest him at home in Ijebu-Ode.
